  • Build your own session agenda and add sessions to your device calendar
  • Take notes and view abstracts directly on the app and email them to yourself for later reference
  • Integrate with and share on Twitter

Graduates of Algonquin College’s Women in Electrical Engineering Technology program will be piloting a project created by Electricity Human Resources Canada (EHRC) that will foster mentorship for women who want to work in the electricity and renewable energy industries. This will allow women seeking to enter these industries to receive guidance from other women and also allow them to access tools and research. Read the government news release for more information.
It’s an exciting time at CICan, with our annual conference just a few days away! As a result, most of my last week was spent in Ottawa planning accordingly, though I did manage attend a conference in Quebec City On Monday, I went to the HUB Ottawa headquarters to hear Al Etmanski and Vickie Cammack talk about social innovation. The two are the co-founders of Plan Canada, and are also involved with numerous social innovation initiatives locally and nationally. They received the Order of Canada, and it was fascinating to listen to them speak about social innovation. On Wednesday, I attended a CAIDP and CCIC (Canadian Council for International Co-operation) conference named ‘Universal Goals, Canadian Challenges’ with colleagues Caitlin Williscroft and Ramon Lashley. It’s always great to be able to attend events with colleagues and discuss afterwards. This conference was particularly interesting because of its focus on international development. On Thursday, it was time for a pre-conference staff meeting back at the CICan headquarters. We also discussed the values of entrepreneurship, and it was great to get such an interactive response from the CICan staff! On Friday, I headed to Quebec City for a Canada-India Education Conference led by the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute. It was great to talk about CICan’s accomplishments regarding partnerships with India, such as our most recent MOU with India’s National Skill Development Corporation. I also quite enjoyed a great presentation from Paul Davidson from Universities Canada. Stay tuned for news from Winnipeg, the site of ‘Leading Change’! I can’t wait for our conference!
