Empowerment Through Skills Program

The Empowerment Through Skills Program (ESP) strengthens alternative pathways to education, employment, self-employment and entrepreneurship for women and adolescent girls in 12 communities across Tanzania.

By working with Folk Development Colleges (FDCs) and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) in Tanzania and in collaboration with the Tanzania Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MOEST) through the Department of Technical and Vocational Training (DTVET), ESP helps to improve access to business, skills, and gender and human rights training across Tanzania and improve access to funding to support training for employment, self-employment, and entrepreneurship.

ESP is an Education for Employment (EFE) program. EFE is a development cooperation strategy based on partnership. The approach brings together governments, institutional partners, communities, and employers to strengthen the social and economic development of the communities in which we work. These partnerships strengthen the capacity of TVET and CBET institutions in countries around the world that are key drivers of economic growth and employment, in particular for young people.
