Effective January 1, 2004, Colleges and Institutes Canada is required to comply with federal privacy legislation entitled the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Colleges and Institutes Canada (“CICan”) operates and and places a high priority on protecting your privacy. It is CICan’s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating our website(s). This privacy policy was created in order to demonstrate CICan’s firm commitment to the privacy of our members and website users. This policy explains what types of information is collected by the CICan’s website(s), and and how this information is used.

Website Visitors

Like most website operators, CICan collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. CICan’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how CICan’s visitors use its website. From time to time, CICan may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.

CICan’s will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, CICan discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when CICan believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of CICan, third parties or the public at large. How Your Information May Be Used

We use your personal information to provide members with personalized service; to send e-mail alerts to members; to answer member requests; etc. You may choose to opt out at any time, which will cease all communications from us. CICan may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its website and does not disclose personally-identifying information.

CICan does not provide, sell, or rent email addresses to anyone outside the organization.
