Help us improve PerspectivesPerspectives is CICan’s regular newsletter and aims to inform our members, our partners and all those interested in the Canadian college and institute system about our activities and about various initiatives of interest to colleges and institutes. Did you know?Niagara College’s Junior Culinary Team Canada has once again proven its talents at an international competition. The team recently won gold and silver medals and the overall championship at the American Culinary Classic in Orlando, Florida. The team is preparing for the World Culinary Olympics in Germany in 2016. Keep up the excellent work!
Congratulations!Kent Scales has been appointed Chair of the Board of Governors at Holland College. He joined the Holland College Board of Governors in May of 2010, and for the past year served as vice chair of the board and chair of the finance committee. He is also CEO of Scales Group of Companies, which includes ServiceMaster of PEI, Robin’s Donuts and Landfest. Appointment notice The Langara College Board of Governors has elected Kwin Grauer to be its new Chair. A member of the Board since August 2011, Mr. Grauer has most recently served as Board Second Vice Chair. He is the Managing Director of Salmon's Rentals Ltd. and Apex Tents. Appointment notice Algonquin College has announced that Marc Fares will be its first ever Vice President of Digital Technologies and Innovation on Tuesday, a brand new position and the first of its kind within the Ontario college system. Marc Fares has more than 17 years of experience in digital and corporate strategy, and has had a long career of fostering innovation in corporations such as Air Canada, Bell Media and Cossette Media.
