College and Community Innovation Program
We joined Gary Goodyear, Minister of State (Science and Technology); Suzanne Fortier, President, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC); and Stephanie Forsyth, President, Red River College for the announcement of College and Community Innovation (CCI) Program grant recipients. Fifty innovative partnerships will receive $17 million over five years. The Program is managed by NSERC, in collaboration with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Presentation at the Fédération des cégeps
On November 14, we addressed the Fédération des cégeps’ meeting of Director Generals, speaking to the benefits of ACCC membership, including the advocacy successes of the Knowledge Infrastructure Program and funding for applied research. The cégeps have been highly successful in the College and Community Innovation Program competitions. We also shared information on the Essential Skills Program.
ACCC Symposium – Colleges Serving Aboriginal Peoples
One hundred and twenty participants attended the November ACCC Colleges Serving Aboriginal Peoples Symposium. The Symposium included presentations from George E. Lafond, Saskatchewan Treaty Commissioner; Nathan Elliot, President, Insightwest Research; Dr. Randy Smith, President, Rural Community College Alliance; and Dr. Marlene Atleo. ACCC 2013 Conference – June 1-3, 2013 – Penticton, BC
Hosted by Okanagan College, the 2013 ACCC Annual Conference Ideas Uncorked will showcase innovative approaches, engage participants in dialogue and catalyze new initiatives. Nicola Valley Institute of Technology will host a Serving Aboriginal Communities Forum on May 31. The Conference website will be launched in December.

The National Executive Leadership Institute for Potential Vice-Presidents (VP-NELI) is planned for July 7-12, 2013 in Parksville, British Columbia.
