UNESCO-UNEVOC

UNEVOC is a key component of UNESCO’s international work in technical and vocational education and training (TVET), facilitating knowledge-sharing and promoting learning for the world of work. UNESCO-UNEVOC conducts training, consultation and conferences in different areas of TVET to build the capacity of practitioners. Advocating on behalf of the TVET sector is another important aspect of UNEVOC’s work.

The UNESCO-UNEVOC Network has three specific objectives:

  • To encourage and promote the development of TVET systems and policies through the adaptation of national, regional and international experiences, best practices and innovations in TVET;
  • To develop the capacities of UNEVOC Centres and associated TVET practitioners;
  • To generate and share information, knowledge, know-how and competencies.

CICan is the pan-Canadian UNEVOC Centre and the lead for the North American cluster of centres. As the Pan-Canadian UNEVOC Centre, CICan’s responsibilities include:

  • Offering a new platform for members to share expertise, research and news with an international audience.
  • Working with other UNEVOC and UNESCO groups and networks on North American activities.
  • Identifying and proposing Canadian experts for international meetings and TVET-related initiatives organized by UNESCO.

Through its pan-Canadian and international programs and networks, CICan interventions build on Canadian expertise in TVET and have helped a number of developing countries to strengthen their TVET systems.
