Career Launcher Apprenticeships addressed the worker shortage in the skilled trades and improved sector diversity by offering financial incentives for hiring first-year apprentices and providing tools and resources to promote inclusivity.
What we did:
We provided a $5,000 incentive to small-and-medium-sized construction and manufacturing businesses when they hired new first-year apprentices and doubled the incentive to $10,000 for apprentices from underrepresented groups.
CICan united seven colleges and institutes from across the country to develop resources and tools aimed at creating inclusive workplaces that supported the recruitment, training, and retention of a strong and diverse workforce.
By equipping businesses with the means to welcome more diverse talent, the program not only filled immediate skills gaps but also laid the groundwork for a more resilient and inclusive future in the trades.
