Ottawa, October 24, 2018 – Ensuring all Canadians have the skills they need to succeed is at the heart of the college and institute mandate, which is why Colleges and institutes Canada (CICan) is pleased to support the Honourable Senator Diane Bellemare’s proposal to create a Promotion of Essential Skills Week.
In a Bill introduced to the Senate that has just proceeded to second reading, Senator Bellemare proposes that the first week of October be designated as a national week for the Promotion of Essential Skills. This would be an annual opportunity to reflect on the importance of every Canadian acquiring essential skills.
