Serve on the Board of Colleges and Institutes Canada

Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) is seeking Expressions of Interest from highly qualified candidates to fill three (3) At-Large Director positions on its Board. These positions may be filled by individuals from the general public or by presidents of member institutions. All positions are for a three-year, renewable term, effective June 2026.

The Board is currently recruiting.

  • One (1) At-Large Director with defence/military policy background and/or professional experience (retired Canadian Armed Forces or equivalent public safety/national security policy or professional experience)
  • One (1) At-Large Director with digital technology and AI expertise with applied experience in private sector, public sector or education organizations (digital transformation, data governance, responsible AI, or adjacent cybersecurity experience)
  • One (1) At-Large Director with experience in economic development and postsecondary-industry partnerships (Regional economic development, workforce development, innovation ecosystems, or industry–postsecondary education collaborations)

Bilingualism in English and French remains strongly preferred for all positions.

About the Board

The Board is composed of six directors representing colleges, CEGEPs, institutes and polytechnics from six regions of Canada, chosen by members, and 8 to 10 At-Large directors, chosen by the Board, representing heads of member institutions, from 2 to 6 directors, and 2 to 6 individuals, representing diverse sectors and industries with key skills and competencies identified by CICan’s Skills Matrix. The Board meets in person twice a year, in November and May, and by teleconference in September and March, with the AGM held in June. For a list of current directors, visit the CICan website.
