Simulation Canada Named CICan’s Outstanding Partner for 2023

Ottawa, July 10, 2023 – Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) is pleased to announce that Simulation Canada has been named CICan’s 2023 Outstanding Partner for its exceptional contributions to healthcare education and simulation-based training.

Working collaboratively with CICan and its members from across the country, Simulation Canada has been coaching healthcare educators on designing, developing, and seamlessly integrating virtual simulations into curricula as part of CICan’s Virtu-WIL program.

“CICan is proud to name Simulation Canada as our Outstanding Partner for 2023,” said Denise Amyot, President and CEO, CICan. “Simulation Canada has consistently demonstrated their dedication to fostering innovation, enhancing student learning and elevating the quality of healthcare education across the country through simulation-based training. We couldn’t be more pleased to collaborate with such a visionary organization.”

As a result of CICan and Simulation Canada’s partnership, educators across Canada now have access to over 185 virtual simulations as open education resources designed to give students in nursing, medical laboratory sciences, paramedicine and sonography programs innovative hands-on learning experiences and practical competencies. The program also creates sustainable, collaborative partnerships between post-secondary institutions, employers, and technology suppliers.

“It is an incredible honour for Simulation Canada to receive this award, and it has been an honour to work alongside CICan on the Virtu-WIL project, which brought together a national collaboration to respond to urgent needs in our community,” said Timothy Willett, President & CEO, Simulation Canada. “We would like to thank and congratulate the many people across Canada – the Simulation Canada team, virtual simulation experts, coaches, authors from dozens of colleges and universities, and the virtual simulation platform vendors – who collaborated to make this a success!”

The award presented to Simulation Canada reflects CICan’s commitment to recognizing and honouring those who champion excellence and innovation in Canadian colleges and institutes, furthering the success and growth of post-secondary education across the country.
