Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) has been awarded funding from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) to offer students innovative work-integrated learning (WIL) opportunities using virtual simulation in five areas of healthcare programming: entry-to-practice nursing, medical laboratory technology, paramedicine, sonography and respiratory therapy.
CICan, invites eligible post-secondary institutions to submit an Expression of Interest to participate in the development of new virtual simulations and/or the delivery of the Virtu-WIL program to students for 2024-2025.
Virtu-WIL project timelines:
For institutions participating in simulation development:
- Kick-off meeting: June 26th, 2024
- Simulation planning begins: July 2024
- Simulation production: September-December 2024
- Completion new simulations: December 31st, 2024
For institutions participating in the Virtu-WIL program delivery to students:
- Delivery to students can begin as early as July 2024
- Latest delivery start date for Virtu-WIL program to students: February 17th, 2025.
- Closing date for all Virtu-WIL program activities: March 14th, 2025.

Expressions of interest must be submitted by using the form below. The form must be confirmed by the appropriate signing authority in your institution.
Applications must be received no later than 11:59 PM EST on Friday, June 21st, 2024.
