SkillShift Mongolia

SkillShift is helping Mongolia strengthen its technical and vocational education and training (TVET) system so learners can gain the skills they need for meaningful, in-demand careers and employers can access the skilled workforce required for growth.

The program brings together the leadership of Mongolian ministries and TVET institutions with the expertise of Canadian colleges and institutes in curriculum design, employer engagement, and applied learning. Together, partners will create lasting reforms that improve systems, expand opportunities, and strengthen communities.

SkillShift will:

  • Develop new National Vocational Qualifications for priority occupations;
  • Support gender-responsive leadership in polytechnics;
  • Advance Mongolia’s first national TVET gender equality and inclusion policy; and
  • Create a national teacher training program with master trainers to ensure sustainability.

These initiatives will be piloted in three polytechnic colleges before being scaled nationally, ensuring reforms are informed by on-the-ground experience and respond to real labour market needs.

This initiative is an Education for Employment (EFE) program. EFE is CICan’s proven strategy that leads to job-ready graduates around the world. Our EFE programs bring together Canada’s network of colleges and institutes and education, industry, and government partners in more than 15 countries and are important drivers of economic growth and social development, particularly for young people.
