CICan proudly presents the 2023 winners of its Art Showcase competition

Ottawa, June 20, 2023 – Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) is delighted to announce the winners of its highly anticipated 2022 Art Showcase competition which recognizes the outstanding artistic talents of students from Canada’s colleges and institutes.    

The annual art competition serves as a platform to celebrate and promote the creative achievements of emerging artists, providing them with a platform to showcase their work to a national audience. This year, CICan received over 100 submissions from students across the country, including its first-ever group submission. 

“CICan extends its sincere congratulations to the winners and all the participants for their dedication and passion for the arts, says CICan president and CEO, Denise Amyot. “We look forward to witnessing the winners’ continued success and the impact their artistic brilliance will undoubtedly have on Canada’s cultural landscape.” 

The 2023 CICan Art Showcase winners are: 

  • Photography:
    Echoes of Old Growth” by Andrew Majka, University of the Fraser Valley
     
  • Drawing
    Brotherly Love” by Hannah Knox, Okanagan College
     
  • Painting:
    Tornade” by Aurelie Laliberte, Cégep de Sherbrooke
     
  • Textile, mixed media, sculpture or printmaking:
    The Plastic Evolution” by Angi Watson, Sheridan College
     
  • Digital illustration or animation:
    The 17 Sustainable Development Goals”, illustrated by the Illustration Program students at  

In recognition of their exceptional achievements, each winner will receive a cash prize of $500, courtesy of TD Insurance. They’ll also have their work prominently displayed on the walls of CICan’s office, located inside the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa. The winning pieces are also displayed on the CICan website, ensuring broader visibility and recognition for these talented students.
