Ottawa, March 10, 2025 – Pari Johnston, President and CEO of Colleges and Institutes Canada, today, issued the following statement:
“On behalf of Colleges and Institutes Canada and our 135 members, I want to congratulate Mark Carney on his election as Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada and Prime Minister-designate. As cross-border supply chains face disruptions, political tensions mount, and global trade transforms, our members stand united – ready to serve Team Canada.
Now is the time for Canada to take charge of its future by investing in Canadian businesses, Canadian workers, and Canadian-made solutions. Our members – Canada’s public colleges, institutes, polytechnics, and CEGEPs – are central to that effort. They help Canadians land good-paying jobs, support Canadian businesses as they grow and diversify, and drive the kind of innovation that strengthens Canadian industries and the economy.
In tough times, they’ve always stepped up – helping local companies adapt nimbly and at the speed of business, and training the workers needed to keep our economy moving. Now, tomorrow, and in the coming weeks and months, our public colleges and institutes are ready to help build a stronger and more resilient Canada.
We also thank out-going party leader and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for his service to Canadians, and to our country.”
