Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) is seeking expressions of interest to present on the subject of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) as part of its 50 – 30 Challenge project funded by the Government of Canada.
CICan is one of five organizations selected by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) to support 50 – 30 Challenge Participants by helping them become more responsive to their diversity and inclusion needs. The 50 – 30 Challenge encourages organizations to aspire to 50% gender parity on its board and senior management team; as well as at least 30% representation of other under-represented groups, including Indigenous people, racialized persons, people living with disabilities, and members of LGBTQ2+ communities. While the Challenge encourages Canadian organizations to increase the representation and inclusion of diverse groups within their workplaces, it also highlights the benefits of giving all Canadians a seat at the table. To date, more than 1800 organizations have committed to the Challenge, including 23 member institutions of CICan.
The objective of the call is to further expand the reach of the 50 – 30 Challenge project within Canada’s college and institute system, as well as to local industry and businesses within the communities they serve.
