Manager, Energy Policy and Planning
Susan Swan is an elected public director of Colleges and Institutes Canada representing the energy sector. She spent much of her 35 year career working in the oil and gas sector in both Toronto and Calgary. During her 32-year career with Imperial, Susan covered a wide range of increasingly senior roles in corporate strategic planning, marketing and pricing, investor relations and was the company’s Public and Government Affairs Manager and President of the Imperial Oil Foundation, the company’s charitable arm. She retired in October 2015 as Manager of Energy Policy and Planning. She has been an elected public director of CICAN since 2014 and was named to the Executive Committee of CICAN and appointed co-chair of the Industry-College Coalition in 2016. She is currently vice-chair of the Women’s Leadership Council of the Calgary United Way. Susan holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Manitoba and a Master of Arts degree specializing in oil and gas economics from the University of British Columbia. She is married with two sons and lives in Calgary with her husband.
