Update from International Experience Canada

We’ve been informed that effective May 8th, 2020 and lasting until further notice, only foreign nationals currently outside Canada who: (i) hold a valid IEC work permit or Letter of Introduction; and (ii) have a current and active offer of employment will be permitted to enter Canada. This new provision applies to all three streams of IEC work permits: international co-op, young professionals, and working holiday. For more information, please consult the International Experience Canada website and a web page we developed on Questions and Answers related to COVID-19.

Multilingual Resources for International Students:

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has translated 10 questions and answers about CERB into multiple languages so that international students and others can get the information they need, in the language they are most comfortable with. In addition to this, the Public Health Agency of Canada also has a list of resources relating to COVID-19, many of which are available in multiple languages. Fact sheets, infographics and videos with key public health advice on COVID-19 are added and updated regularly.

International Prospective Student Survey

Earlier this spring, Academica partnered with Maple Assist to launch the International Prospective Student Study to help Canadian postsecondary institutions better understand their prospective international students’ situations, concerns, and plans for the Fall. Additional surveys are being planned. Should your institutions be interested to participate, please consult these Frequently Asked Questions, or contact bruce@academica.ca

Virtual/Online Short Term Summer Programs

The Canadian Association of Public Schools – International (CAPS-I) has reached out to source information related to short-term (2 to 4 weeks) virtual summer programming being offered by colleges and universities. As a result of COVID-19, many more international students at the K-12 level will remain in Canada over the summer and demand for summer programming is high. If interested, please share relevant information with info@caps-i.ca
