CICan and Mitacs partner to drive innovation with 1,000 research internships for college and institute students across Canada

New agreement pledges work-integrated learning research opportunities with industry and post-secondary education partners across Canada  Ottawa, February 27, 2020 — Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) — the national organization that represents publicly-supported colleges, institutes, CEGEPs, and polytechnics — and Mitacs — a not-for-profit organization that fosters growth and innovation in Canada — signed an historic agreement yesterday. CICan joins the Mastercard Foundation’s Young Africa Works initiative in Kenya

Ottawa, Canada, February 21, 2020 – Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) has announced a partnership with the Mastercard Foundation’s Young Africa Works initiative in Kenya. By working closely with Kenyan partners and post-secondary institutions, CICan will contribute to the Mastercard Foundation’s goal of enabling 30 million young Africans, particularly young women, in dignified and fulfilling work by 2030. Canadian colleges and institutes to support women’s training and empowerment in Senegal

Ottawa, February 18, 2020 – As announced during Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s visit to Senegal last week, Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) will play a key role in implementing the initiative, Mille femmes: Je suis femme, j’existe, je participe (One Thousand Women: I am woman, I exist, I participate - FEP), which will facilitate access to professional and technical training for Senegalese women. New project gives Canadians facing barriers access to pre-apprenticeship training adapted for their success

Ottawa, December 11, 2019 – Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) in partnership with the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum (CAF) is launching a two and a half year project funded by the Government of Canada as part of the Skilled Trades Awareness and Readiness (STAR) Program. The Inclusive Pre-Apprenticeship Pathways Program will help Canadians, and particularly those facing barriers to education, access pre-apprenticeship training adapted to support their success. Canadians value life-long learning as the answer to disruption

Ottawa, November 13, 2019 – With the labour market changing faster than ever to keep up with disruptive technologies, a new report commissioned by Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan), and launched today in Ottawa, shows that lifelong learning and access to hands-on training opportunities are highly valued by Canadians.  The report is based on a poll conducted by EKOS and shows that 98% of Canadians believe that access to lifelong learning at all ages is important. CICan to help 230 young Canadians join the green economy

Ottawa, August 26, 2019 – Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) is proud to announce the renewal of two programs funded under Canada’s modernized Youth Employment and Skills Strategy. This will allow an additional 230 young Canadians to get a strong start in the green economy through CICan’s Career-Launcher Internship program. The renewed Natural Resources and Clean Tech internship programs are more inclusive and will encourage employers to support youth facing barriers to employment.
