CICan to help 230 young Canadians join the green economy

Ottawa, August 26, 2019 – Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) is proud to announce the renewal of two programs funded under Canada’s modernized Youth Employment and Skills Strategy. This will allow an additional 230 young Canadians to get a strong start in the green economy through CICan’s Career-Launcher Internship program. The renewed Natural Resources and Clean Tech internship programs are more inclusive and will encourage employers to support youth facing barriers to employment. CICan supports proposed Promotion of Essential Skills Week

Ottawa, October 24, 2018 – Ensuring all Canadians have the skills they need to succeed is at the heart of the college and institute mandate, which is why Colleges and institutes Canada (CICan) is pleased to support the Honourable Senator Diane Bellemare’s proposal to create a Promotion of Essential Skills Week. In a Bill introduced to the Senate that has just proceeded to second reading, Senator Bellemare proposes that the first week of October be designated as a national week for the Promotion of Essential Skills.
