Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal
To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the ascension of Elizabeth II, 60,000 Diamond Jubilee Medals will be presented to distinguished Canadians. ACCC was invited by the Office of the Governor General to be a partner organization and to submit nominations of meritorious individuals from the sector.
We invite member institutions to forward to the ACCC Secretariat nominations of individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to your institution or to the college sector broadly. We suggest that nominations be approved by your Board and forwarded by your Board Secretary.
The brochure outlines the selection criteria, the documentation required and the timelines involved.
Please send nominations to the Secretary of the ACCC Board, Tobias Keogh by July 15, 2012.
Essential Skills for Immigrants
ACCC will undertake a study on Essential Skills for Immigrants, funded by HRSDC, to develop and test a model for Essential Skills education for foreign trained professionals before they arrive in Canada.
The study will test how Essential Skills education supports immigrants by: easing their transition into the Canadian labour market, increasing their capacity to obtain employment that fits their education and skills, and enhancing their ability to retain employment commensurate with their prior learning and work experience.
The work will be completed by September 30, 2013.
Canadian Immigrant Integration Program Forum
In March, partners of the Canadian Immigrant Integration Program (CIIP) convened to discuss trends, best practices and ways to improve pre-arrival services to new immigrants. Our partners are key to the Program’s success.
An Orientation Officer from each of the CIIP field offices in China, India, the Philippines and the UK took the participants through the Program’s Group Orientation and My Action Plan sessions. Representatives from Citizenship and Immigration Canada spoke about changes to immigration policies.
