Penticton, BC, June 3, 2013 – The Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC) today honoured Fanshawe College’s Resource Planning Department Scheduling Officer, Lisa Dennis, with its 2013 Gold Award for Staff Excellence.
“Senior management and co-workers agree that Lisa’s natural leadership abilities, strong collaborative spirit, and fearless innovative approach have made her an invaluable asset to the college and a key factor in improving the Fanshawe student experience,” said ACCC President and CEO James Knight.
Accustomed to working on high profile products, Lisa is best known for her exemplary efforts to modernize the college’s timetabling process, and maximizing Fanshawe’s limited space on-campus. The new process also offered students more flexible and logical schedules.
The Silver Staff Excellence Award was presented to Tim Siemens, Residence Life Coordinator at Red Deer College. Tim has participated in a variety of committees, campus task forces and was a key participant in developing the institution’s next five-year strategic vision. The Bronze award recognized Alison West-Armstrong, Disabilities Counselor at Algonquin College, in Ontario. Alison goes beyond her 9-to-5 role at the college and juggles a diverse caseload of students. She developed and implemented an online video tutorial to help Algonquin teachers better understand mental health issues.
