Colleges and Institutes Canada supports entrepreneurship across colleges

Quebec (QC), August 25, 2014 – While in Quebec city to attend the grand opening of Cégep Garneau’s L’Espace Entreprendre and salute their leadership, Colleges and Institutes Canada President and CEO, Denise Amyot, announced a national symposium on entrepreneurship. The event will gather experts from across the country in the spring of 2015.

The symposium will allow participants to share success stories and best practices as a growing number of colleges, cegeps and institutes develop innovative ways to inspire an entrepreneurial spirit among their students.

“As educators it is important for our members to share with young Canadians the skills they need to find jobs, but also to contribute directly to the economic development of their communities”, says Denise Amyot. “Promoting entrepreneurship is therefore a priority for colleges, cegeps and institutes from across the country.”

Mrs. Amyot also took this opportunity to renew Colleges and Institutes Canada’s commitment to L’Espace Entreprendre at Cégep Garneau. This space will constitute a common platform from which to launch innovative projects in collaboration with public and private partners to promote entrepreneurship in the Quebec City area.

Colleges and Institutes Canada is proud to partner with leaders such as Cégep Garneau and help them share entrepreneurial initiatives that will benefit all of Canada’s publicly supported colleges. The Association offers similar support to all of its members and encourages them to develop and embed innovation and entrepreneurial learning outcomes across their programs.

Colleges and Institutes Canada is the national and international voice of Canada’s publicly supported colleges, cegeps, institutes and polytechnics. The association works with industry and social sectors to train 1.5 million learners of all ages and backgrounds at campuses serving over 3,000 urban, rural and remote communities.
