CICan welcomes the new government

Ottawa, October 21 – Denise Amyot, President and CEO of Colleges and Institutes Canada issued the following statement on the election of a new federal government.

“On behalf of colleges and institutes across Canada, I would like to thank all the candidates who took part in this very important election and offer my sincere congratulations to our 338 new and returning members of parliament.

“Regardless of party lines and platforms, Canadians know that providing quality, accessible education is at the heart of Canada’s success and prosperity. We look forward to working with the new Liberal government, as well as all the other parties in the House, to support the innovative training and applied research that make Canada’s colleges and institutes some of the strongest in the world. Together, we will ensure that young Canadians continue to obtain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed while contributing fully to strong and vibrant communities.”

Colleges and Institutes Canada is the national and international voice of Canada’s publicly supported colleges, institutes and polytechnics. Its members work with industry and social sectors to train 1.5 million learners of all ages and backgrounds at campuses serving over 3,000 urban, rural and remote communities in Canada. The Association operates in 29 countries via 12 offices around the world.
