Ottawa, June 21, 2018 – Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) is pleased to welcome three new members to its Board of Directors, as well as a new Chair. Dr. Michel Tarko, President and CEO of the Justice Institute of British Columbia will be taking over the position of Chair from Liane Roy, President and CEO of the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick (CCNB), who served on the Board for seven years.
The Board also selected Yves Galipeau, Director General of Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles as its new Vice-Chair. New directors include Riel Bellegarde, President and CEO of the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT), who joins as the new representative for the Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Nunavut region; Dr. William Radford, President and CEO of College of the North Atlantic, who will represent the Atlantic region; and Carmen Abela, Managing Director of WindReach Consulting Services Inc., who was elected as one of four public directors.

Their rich experience will be invaluable to ensure that our association continues to stay on top of the latest trends and challenges in the rapidly evolving world of skills and education”, said Denise Amyot, President and CEO of CICan. “We are also grateful to our outgoing Board members, including our former Chair Liane Roy, for their wise counsel and dedicated work on behalf of Canada’s colleges and institutes.”
The new Board directors were elected during CICan’s annual general meeting, which was held June 19. This was also an opportunity to reflect on CICan’s accomplishments over the past year, as outlined in our annual report.
