Ottawa, July 21, 2020 – Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) is pleased to welcome five new members to its board of directors. The new directors were elected during CICan’s annual general meeting, held virtually on June 29th.
Presidents from four CICan member institutions were elected to join the board as At-Large Directors from heads of institutions: Sherri Bell of Camosun College, in British Columbia, Don Lovisa of Durham College, in Ontario, Josée Ouellette from Collège d’Alma, in Québec, and David Ross from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT).
Marlene Floyd, National Director of Corporate Affairs at Microsoft Canada also joined the CICan Board of Directors as a Public At-Large Director.
These are the first new directors to join since CICan updated its bylaws to change the composition of its board of directors in order to transition to a more skill-based board.
“I can’t wait to work with so many accomplished leaders from all across Canada as we continue our work on behalf of colleges and institutes”, noted CICan president and CEO, Denise Amyot. “They all bring a wealth of experience and a diversity of perspectives that will help us move forward and grow as an association. I also want to thank all our outgoing Board members for their invaluable contributions.”
CICan’s annual general meeting was also an opportunity to reflect on the association’s accomplishments over the past year, as outlined in its annual report for 2019-2020.
