CICan honours up-and-coming student artists

Ottawa, May 31, 2016 – Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) is proud to celebrate student artists from across Canada with its Art Showcase 2016.

This year, the CICan Art Committee received over 100 submissions from college and institute students all over the country. After much consideration, the committee awarded top prizes in seven categories: textile/mixed media, photography, print, sculpture, drawing, painting and digital art.

“Once again, we were incredibly impressed by the artwork students submitted in a variety of mediums”, said CICan president and CEO, Denise Amyot. “These young artists prove that Canada’s colleges and institutes are filled with an enormous amount of talent and creativity.”

The winning pieces were unveiled at CICan’s 2016 Annual Conference in Québec City where over 700 delegates from colleges and institutes across Canada are gathered. They are also showcased on the CICan website and will be displayed on the walls of CICan’s national headquarters in Ottawa.

The winners in each category also receive 300$ to support their artistic endeavors.
