The Pacific Alliance Education for Employment Program (PA-EFE) is focused on enhancing local expertise in the extractive sector in Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru. Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) provides technical assistance and training by partnering with governments as well as educational institutions in each member country in order to address current and future labour needs of the sector. Through this program, youth, men and women will have access to employment, directly or indirectly tied to the extractive sector in the Pacific Alliance (PA) region. The program also aims at establishing intitutional partnerships through dialogue between representatives from the Canadian private and public extractive industry on one hand, and PA technical group stakeholders, representatives from the extractive and environmental sectors, and indigenous communities of the four member countries on the another hand. These partnerships enable participants to share lessons and best practices regarding policies, regulations as well as environmental and corporate social responsibility practices related to the extractive industry.
