Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) worked with Chile’s Ministry of Education to provide technical and adminstrative support by placing 75 graduate technicians from Chile in member institutions in Canada for a 12-month training to upgrade the skills. The training focused on imroving English language competency as well as on academic programs in areas, namely: mining technology, culinary arts, tourism, finance, business administration, and health sciences. Fifty-two (52) of the trainees further received training in specialized fields for another 12 months. The trainees were placed in the following Canadian colleges: New Brunswick Community College, Niagara College, Conestoga College, Red River College, Centennial College, Sir Sandford Fleming College, Parkland College, Algonquin College, Confedration College, Cambrian College, and College of the Rockies.
