Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) worked with the Inter-American Development Bank to establish a community college model at the post secondary non-university level in Bahamas, Barbados, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago. CICan, specifically, assisted with (i) establishing a baseline of post-secondary education at the community college level in the Caribbean; (ii) developing a set of guidelines for dissemination of community college model in the Caribbean; (iii) presenting and discussing a comprehensive approach to the implementation of post-secondary non-university education under the community college model among political, educational, academic and business leaders in the region, and (iv) identifying countries and institutions in the Caribbean that are willing and ready to participate in projects aimed at implementing the community college model.
