Being Perfectly Mindful: An Exploratory Study of the Effects of Mindfulness on Self-Compassion and Perfectionism in College Students

Abstract: In previous research, no relationship has been found between mindfulness and self-oriented perfectionism. This repeated measures experiment explored the effects of 8 weeks of mindfulness practice on college students’ (N=39) mindfulness, self-compassion, anxiety, stress and multidimensional perfectionism (self-oriented, other-oriented and socially-prescribed), compared to a control group.
