Evaluating the Critical Success Factors in For-Profit Business Development by Colleges in Rural Canadian Communities

Abstract: The Canadian college education system is in the midst of an evolution from a social service provider to a market driven social enterprise in response to decreasing governmental funding paired with an increased demand for educational programs and services. This sectoral paradigm shift is critical for the long-term viability of rural institutions in order to maintain programming and services, as well as continuing to drive local economic development.
