Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) invites you to take part in a virtual focus group session to discuss and identify challenges, opportunities, promising practices and resources to better engage, support and advance Indigenous and Newcomer Youth who are currently ‘Not in Education, Employment, or Training’ (NEET). The session will be 1.5hrs in length and will inform the Environmental Scan of the Skills Compass Project.
Following the focus group session, CICan will be better situated to understand the following questions:
- How have Canadian colleges, institutes and community-based organizations responded to or addressed complex issues or barriers to education, training or employment faced by NEET First Nations, Inuit, Metis and Newcomer youth?
- What programs, program components or tools exist to support and improve access to education, training and employment for NEET First Nations, Inuit, Metis and Newcomer youth?
- What are the factors that facilitate or challenge access for NEET Indigenous and Newcomer youth to further their education or integrate in the Canadian workforce?
- What promising practices or recommendations can we draw insights from to mirror in other programs or services that wish to better support NEET Indigenous and Newcomer youth as they transition to education or employment?
A copy of the agenda and any other supporting materials will be sent to confirmed participants closer to the event date. In the event that you are not the suitable candidate to communicate with for this event or unable to attend, please forward this invitation to the appropriate person from your institution. Please note that participation is limited to one individual per institution or organization
We thank you for your continued support during this challenging time and look forward to seeing you virtually at the focus group session!
