The Forum will provide college and institute leaders with thought leadership on policy priorities related to the role of their institutions in building a more inclusive and innovative Canada. The event will also provide opportunities to engage with parliamentarians and senior federal officials to share advocacy priorities.
This year, to strengthen our advocacy positioning on the federal government’s Innovation and Skills Plan, the CICan Symposium: Accelerating Innovation through Applied Research for college and institute Heads of Applied Research will be held in parallel with the Forum. While the Forum and Symposium will run concurrently, there will be common sessions for Presidents and Heads of Applied Research on the afternoon of November 5, with a focus on Applied Research and Innovation.
Presidents and Heads of Applied Research are also invited to attend the Student Innovation Showcase on the Hill on November 5, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Skilled and creative college and institute students will have the opportunity to showcase their applied research projects, along with their lead researchers. All members of parliament and senators have been invited to attend the showcase. This will be a great opportunity to exchange with federal policy makers on the importance of college and institute applied research!
