Who should attend

This Leadership Institute is designed for those in the roles of dean and director (in academic, administration, finance, and student services departments), and campus principals who aspire to become vice-presidents.

Participants will examine a number of key areas, including:

  • leadership (self-assessment and skills assessment);
  • the environmental context in which institutions currently exist;
  • executive management expectations;
  • governance;
  • building a leadership team; and,
  • the key elements and challenges of the vice president role.

Testimonial

I attended VP NELI this summer. I have to say that the experience was absolutely transformational for me. The opportunity to learn from the top post-secondary leaders in the country was truly an experience I will never forget. The ability to build a nationwide network of likeminded individuals could only be possible through an opportunity such as this. I am truly grateful to NSCC for allowing me to participate in such a rewarding professional and personal development experience.

The VP NELI experience was pivotal for my career development.  The content and faculty were obviously top-notch, but what made the most impact for me was the focus on the intangibles involved in executive-level leadership, and the openness of the faculty sharing their lives in ways that could never be replicated in a textbook or course materials.  This could only come from an organization that is committed to the development of the college system as CICan.
