Additional flexibility for international students and online studies

We are very pleased to share that Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced additional flexibility with respect to Post-Graduate Work Permit eligibility and online studies for international students: Students may now study online from abroad until April 30, 2021, with no time deducted from the length of a future post-graduation work permit, provided 50% of their program of study is eventually completed in Canada. Students who have enrolled in a program that is between 8 and 12 months in length, with a start date from May to September 2020, will be able to complete their entire program online from abroad and still be eligible... As we all continue to work together to support each other and those most vulnerable in our communities, take note of these recent federal updates: For international students, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced additional support measures for international students beginning a new program online this fall with a Canadian learning institution, including: priority study-permit processing for students who have submitted a complete application online; allowing students to count the time spent pursuing their studies online abroad toward their eligibility for a post-graduation work permit, if they have submitted a study permit application and if at least 50% of their program is... Update from International Experience Canada

We’ve been informed that effective May 8th, 2020 and lasting until further notice, only foreign nationals currently outside Canada who: (i) hold a valid IEC work permit or Letter of Introduction; and (ii) have a current and active offer of employment will be permitted to enter Canada. This new provision applies to all three streams of IEC work permits: international co-op, young professionals, and working holiday. IRCC extends exemptions for international students

International students beginning in the Fall will be allowed to start their program online. We are very pleased to share that Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), has just announced that the exemptions granted to international students with respect to Post-Graduate Work Permit eligibility and online studies from outside of Canada will be extended for the Fall intake. As is the case for students starting programs in May and June, international students joining us this Fall will be allowed to begin and complete up to 50% of their program online from abroad in anticipation of a transition to Canada. Removing barriers for international students working in essential services to fight COVID-19

To help battle the COVID-19 outbreak, starting immediately, the Government of Canada is removing the restriction that allows international students to work a maximum of 20 hours per week while classes are in session, provided they are working in an essential service or function, such as health care, critical infrastructure, or the supply of food or other critical goods.
