Canadian post-secondary leaders recognized internationally for excellence

Ottawa, June 30, 2022- Earlier this month, 12 Canadian leaders in post-secondary education were recognized by the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics’ (WFCP) fifth annual Awards of Excellence during a ceremony in Basque Country (Spain) on the occasion of the 10th Bi-Annual WFCP World Congress. The awards recognize WFCP member institutions and celebrate their contributions to excellence in the global TVET sector. This year, recipients were recognized in twelve distinct categories. The latest Career Launcher expansion includes work-integrated learning opportunities for up to 6,000 first-year apprentices

Ottawa, June 29, 2022 – Colleges and Institutes Canada is pleased to announce, today, a new $37-million agreement with Employment and Social Development Canada to expand its Career Launcher program. Over two years, more than 6,000 apprentices in one of 39 Red Seal Trades in the Construction and Manufacturing sectors will benefit from work-integrated learning experiences through Career Launcher. New Canadian scholarship program addresses inequality in developing countries

Kigali, June 27, 2022 – Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau announced Saturday the launch of the Canadian International Development Scholarships 2030 program that will educate, train and empower thousands of bright, talented people in developing countries around the world. Colleges and institutes to provide scholarships and other supports for Ukrainian students coming to Canada

Ottawa, May 12, 2022 – Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) announced today that, thanks to the generosity of its members, over 150 scholarships will be available to Ukrainian students coming to Canada to study as they flee violence in their home country. Forty-three of CICan’s member colleges and institutes will provide scholarships and/or other support including on-campus housing or living expenses, mental health support, alternative of deferred-payment options or language training. CICan recognizes excellence and leadership at colleges and institutes

Halifax, April 26, 2022 – Colleges and institutes Canada, today, announced the recipients of its 2022 Awards of Excellence. The CICan Awards of Excellence recognize best practices from institutions across the country, as well as individual leadership and achievements. This year’s recipients include 23 institutions across seven provinces and territories, 11 individuals, and one faculty team.
